If there’s any suggestions on a time change, please discuss, otherwise let’s be there 10:00am and hammer through the business we need to get done if you wanted to also attend the aluminum casting show & tell
I guess the main things are:
How can we increase cashflow to avoid winding up in 2018
I was hoping that doubling up would help cross pollinate ideas and attendance.
Could consideration be given to:
Replacing the “Finger steeler 5000” (The current table saw),
The dismantled drill press,
And maybe a belt sander - the current small hand sander is failing and no longer starts every time.
Yes I think @Rurik and I were hoping to give replacing the bearing a go, and reassemble otherwise;
The current table saw. I’m really hoping we can find one of those “universal” table saw tables for not much money - there was a bargain at the green shed we missed out on. If others could look out for similar deals it’d be greatly appreciated
I put the new bearing on the drill press yesterday. So it is ready to be pressed but I don’t have the tools for that.
Also I was offered a table saw and planer today from a friend who wants to get it out of his shed. He said it will need a new set of blades and an on/off switch. Neither of which seem to hard todo. It is just sitting in his shed getting in the way. It will need a few people to move it as it is a serious tool from the sixties.
Sounds good! Sorry I couldn’t make it this time. Really wanted to. What was wrong with the 10.30 start? Too early? Sounded like a good plan to me…
Re space, I’m taking up 3 lockers and have put my number on them because I’m aware it’s much and am happy to clean them out if needed. But there are still some unorganized lockers that can be freed up.
As for large space, did we discuss perhaps buying a shed and putting it on the cement outside?
See you all at the next months one. Still first Saturday of the month?
10:00 was a bit early, I think. I don’t really care what time it is.
I don’t think we were worried about member projects taking up space, as much as all our other junk! @crashman39 is going to make a list of things we’d like to move around or dispose of. I was sort of thinking that we might be able, if we bought tarps and kept things off the ground, could move a lot of the wood stock along the top of the lockers and misc. leaning up against the walls outside into one of the brick storage bay areas near the garden. That would free above-the-lockers for much need storage, perhaps we could free up some lockers that way.
Or we just chuck stuff out
Or put build a make-shift roof over the storage bays outside…
+1 for sorting some kind of material storage outside of the main workshop. If sheds are cheapish, that might be a good solution, as we can always decide to move it around. But I’m open to whatever.
My issue with starting much later than 10/10:30 is that the idea of the days was to get in, plan some actions (cleaning / building a storage solution / rearranging the workspace / etc - “bigger” items that require a bit of discussion/planning/more-than-one-person) and then action them. My feeling is that if we start later, we’ll end up talking and not doing much.
No I believe the fridge has not worked for some time.
And I think its now redundant, it used to made some sense having a second fridge where the space was physically split across two floors, but not any more.
@Rurik suggested we advertise it on something like gumtree. He said a broken fridge like that could attract ~$100.
When I worked in a home brew shop we had customers looking for commercial fridges all the time. People would pay good money for broken ones. I think it is worth the shot. It is better then it sitting there.
well done everyone, great job and here is the signs for the tool rack , if we need to move them it will be easy , they are held in place by Blutack atm
