Welder usage

Hi all,

Forgive me if this is listed somewhere, but I couldn’t see this info on the wiki.

I’d like to use the welder at MHV, but I haven’t used the one at the space before. In a past life I did a fair bit of welding with an large-ish (gas shielded, not gasless) MIG welder, so I know the basics, though I am woefully out of practice. Are we required to do some form of training before using the welder? If so, would anyone be able to run a training session at maybe the next Tuesday night meetup? I’m sure there are others in the same boat as me :smile:

I hope someone offers to help you get started. One of the challenges is working out where is safe to set it up in the new space.

The previous Welding workshop page on the Wiki has been archived: https://wiki.makehackvoid.com/workshops:archived:basic_welding but can be moved back to active if people want to start running it again. It looks like @dmstokes73 added his name as interested in training on the archived page.

I can give a brief ‘this is where everything is’ introduction on Tuesday night. I’m a self taught welder with only a few projects under my belt so can’t give great instruction, but should be enough to get someone keen to learn going.

Totally up for this as well. I’ve done a bit here and there but never at MHV and want to make sure I know how to set it all up right.
