ok so on spin up is the problem maybe that drive we used at the space needed more than the supply could handle :confused:
so it couldnt spin up on boot ?

For next time I will have my USB power meter thing and we will see what that disk needs.

I tested my own 2.5" disk with the bapi (found my handmade cable). The disk is a 320GB Western Digital Scorpio Black (WD3200BEKT).

Power usage attaching the disk:

 300mA idle after boot  (no disk, no wireless)
1100mA disk spin-up
 550mA disk  idle
1000mA sequential disk read or write (speed is about 40MB/s)
 390mA shut down
  80mA power off by button

Connecting wireless:

300mA idle after boot  (no disk, no wireless)
450mA wireless connecting
390mA wireless idle
