I’m hoping to pick up a XT90 connector today. Jaycar doesnt list them on their website, am I out of luck in that case?
If so, can anyone recommend a temporary but safe way of connecting to a female plug before I go in ham fisted?
I got some at a model shop that is now closed however I think a shop that specialises in RC should have them.

I have purchased some from Jaycar before - you’ll need to check it out in person though it seems 
There is a model aircraft shop in Fyshwick that might sell them too - and possibly even SuperToy World.
