Mill suggestion

I know its not “direct” from an outlet…
But…

Lathe Metal Machining Workshop Milling Package Deal on Gumtree http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/1110828503

First up I am not a pro with lathes, never have used one before but
certainly want to learn how (but been reading/watching heaps to learn how)
so consider this my “I’m a n00b, YMMV” disclaimer :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s a lot better than some of the fleabay ones with DC motors and it’s
local too

This one looks like you could change out the motor to a 3 phase motor and
run it off a VFD (allowing near infinite speed control and a vast array of
options like electronic braking, speed ramp up/down, etc).

It certainly would be an awesome tool to add to the arsenal at MHV.

I’ve never used a lathe/mill either, but ready and willing to learn…

Other than the old Wood Lathe’s from High School woodworking class…

They really are a bit of a specialist item as far as operating is concerned. In the days of Metal Work at the Reid TAFE, there were always machines out of action because of student error. You would really need a machinst to look after it 2c Owen
