Thanks @jellyware - if an onsite visit is going ahead, I will try to make it - no meetings this afternoon, so should be free to head out.
Can someone fill us in on how these chats went? Whatās the general feeling about potentially moving in to one of these spaces?
We thought 17 Tucana looked great, but @jellyware suggested there would be a big rate hike. So weāre waiting on ACTPG to let us know the rate before allowing ourselves to get our hopes upā¦ (if itās priced the same as Grant Cameron Community Centre, for 307sqm thatās $1470 per month which is almost the same as just renting commercially somewhere like Fyshwick that seems to go as low as $80/sqm/pa.)
Hereās the actions from memory:
- @Dexta_Bb will visit a CRARC meeting and try to scope out the apparently abandoned daycare at Red Hill and whether thatās potentially available for rent by whoever owns the scout hall there (potentially thatās already ACTPG? Who knows).
- Shipping containers were brought up again, @tpack seemed to think itād be interesting to find out how the community garden people have scored some land to do that
- There might be some spare space at the CSIRO Gungahlin http://www.csiro.au/en/About/Strategy-structure/Heritage-management/Heritage-land-and-buildings/Gungahlin-Complex - Iām emailing someone to see how that works
- Ken brought up the ACTās strange leasehold/subleasing legal situation regarding property ownership and somehow, in spite of my incredulous remarks, convinced me this might actually be a thing that is really being done (obviously none of us at MHV have the will to do this, and even we if did, we lack theā¦ āresourcesā).
- Somebody should approach someone in CBRIN, or at least someone from one of its programs, or something. Nobody has claimed this task.
So, to re-iterate - weād very much like to go for 17 Tucana, some clarification on the rent price is needed first.
Hereās my attempt at a āone page begging letterā. It leaves off a lot of specifics from @devdspās 2013 version, mostly because Iād like it to start conversations rather than be a comprehensive requirements document.
Iāve fired off a quick & friendly email to someone familiar with the CSIRO Crace site. Iām 99% sure itās unsuitable for MHV due to the after-hrs security shenanigans.
