“Stick the landing” in gymnastics jargon means to complete a complex routine with the ideal pose (typically, upright and motionless, like a stick). On Tuesday, SpaceX “sticked their landing” with the Falcon 9 first stage, making history as the first entity to return an orbital launch vehicle to a terrestrial landing after an actual orbital launch. Other companies have landed rockets, including the Delta Clipper Experimental Advanced Reusable Launch Vehicle[1], with Blue origin repeating the DC-X accomplishments more recently.
Sticking the landing is a good thing, but don’t let the desire for perfection prevent you ever trying something.
