Hi All,

Data61 (formerly NICTA) is running a free introduction to functional programming course and thought some of you might be interested in attending. The course is quite highly regarded internationally, being the top of several lists of “how to learn haskell”, and has received lots of positive feedback over the last few years we’ve run it. Details are below, if you’ve got any questions feel free to comment here or email me at Alex.Mason@data61.csiro.au.

Abstract: Data61 will be hosting a hands-on, three day Introduction to Functional Programming, for interested participants.
We will be using the Haskell programming language for our journey over the three days and this session requires no prior experience with functional programming.
You will be required to bring a suitable development machine (portable) for working through the exercises. You will also need to install Glasgow Haskell Compiler (http://www.haskell.or…) version 7.8 or higher on that machine. There are no other primary requirements.

Each session will be instructed by Tony Morris (Data61) to help you along your path of FP discovery, wherever that might be.

If you are interested in attending this course, please email your EOI to the below email address. In your response, it is very helpful for us to understand your goals in order to make the best of the time we will have, so please take the time to answer the below questions in your response. Your answers will not be shared- just used to construct the course structure/ material. Attendees will be selected based on the answers provided:

How would you rate your level of understanding of functional programming?

What would you hope to get out of the session?
