Aluminium casting show and tell - Saturday 3rd June!

I’ve got a couple more pics of the pieces that I cast yesterday. I’ve cleaned them, drilled and tapped them and fit them.

As I was leaving the space on Saturday, Inoticed an old Hills-hoist with a ball of concrete attached. It looks like it was being discarded. The aluminium casting for the crank assembly would be good scrap for re-casting. The screw-jack assembly, assuming it was still there, is probably made from a reasonable quality cast iron that would also be good for casting, assuming access to a reasonable furnace=) Funny how you start seeing junk in a whole new light when you can use it!

After casting the hand-wheels, last week, I cut a piece out of one of the risers and ground it to shape in order to form a small pulley for the cross-slide of the lathe I’ve been working on. The piece was pressed onto a 1/2" steel tube using a bit of all-thread.
